Coit Tower steps This picture was taken on the steps of <a href="http://www.inetours.com/Pages/SFNbrhds/Coit_Tower.html">Coit Tower</a>. Coit Tower is at the top of Telegraph Hill. It is shaped like the top of a firehose because it was made possible by Lillie Hitchcock Coit - she was an admirer of the fire fighters at the 1906 earthquake fire. The small island visible is Alcatraz. We didn't get a chance to check out the tour of the island, but I've heard it is very worthwhile. I was tempted to take a swim out to visit, but everyone kept telling me the sharks didn't care if I was Canadian.
