The situation in the US is not good. Total employment rose by just 21,000 in February, well below forecasts of around 150,000. But here is the kick in the gut – the 21,000 new jobs created was entirely accounted for by a 21,000 increase in the government payroll.

Priorities
Greenspan suggested cutting future benefits and raising the retirement age of social security. Yet the projected Social Security shortfall over the next 75 years is less than one-third the projected cost of tax cuts enacted over the past three years.
