I grew up with parents that put me to work, so I couldn’t really claim ignorance when I went out on my own. I think something like my grade 8 (or 8th grade, depending on where you live) experience should be widespread. It was mandatory that everyone try 2 weeks of each offered elective. So everyone that went through that system had to learn to do things like sew a shirt, make meals, fix things in shop, draw, paint, & sculpt.
