Flying back from Calgary today we passed by the wildfires north of LA. The plume of smoke was visible from far off, and the fires seem quite close to populated areas.
The Big Picture has some excellent photos on the California wildfires that are burning up north. We were in a bit of a news blackout while enjoying Two Harbors on Catalina Island, but couldn’t miss the wall of orange smoke.
This morning I bought a bunch of supplies and brought them down to Qualcomm Stadium, where there are a lot of evacuees. It was a long (2.5 hours) process, but everyone seemed to be in relatively good spirits. There are a lot of volunteers doing some great work.
